When mischievous Morris sneaks inside the space rocket that is sitting in his next door neighbour’s garden, he is terrified to hear the door slam shut and the engines fire. So begins a thrilling intergalactic adventure.

Can Morris rescue his friend Toby the Moonworm from the clutches of evil Professor Crookheart? 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, we have lift off. Fasten your seatbelts and blast into space with Sea Legs Puppet Theatre in an exciting voyage to the stars.

Set in a space rocket and narrated by Dr Smarty, Morris & the Moonworm uses puppets, mask, storytelling and live music by Mr Pants.

Morris & the Moonworm was originally called One Small Step and came about as a natural progression of Sea Legs’ first show, The Biggest Fish Ever. We figured we had this ten-foot tall lighthouse. What else could it be? A block of flats! The Eiffel Tower! A Space Rocket!!!!

If musicians have the difficult second album this was for us, the difficult second show.  We had lots of ideas but were struggling to bring them all together. Eventually this led to bringing in a third writer – James Clarke. It was James who came up with the name, Professor Crookheart for the baddy. Eventually a first draft was produced – at last something we could work with. This meant that I could start making the puppets and hiring people to help with the multitude of other jobs.

We first performed Morris & the Moonworm at Mordiford School, Herefordshire on July 17th 2002. It was very well received and we continued touring this show and The Biggest Fish Ever until 2003.
